Rhett's Birthday Party

While we did throw a triple birthday party we still celebrated Rhett on his own special day. We had cheesecake and invited our good friends over; the Whittaker's, Merrill's and my mom was in town with us. It was a fun, low-key evening with yummy food, wonderful company and conversation. The older kids played and busted out Mario Cart on the Wii.

Rhett is awesome and so expressive. He does this face of surprise, open mouth, eyes wide and usually makes a small sound of exclamation, an "oh!" sound.

Unsure of all this attention as we sing to him.

We had saved his presents from the Robot party for Rhett to enjoy later on his birthday. There was too much going on that day and he was napping through most of it. The night of his birthday he woke up close to 10pm for some reason or other. I wasn't too happy about it since I wanted to go to bed myself and wasn't ready for an after party. He was rather grumpy and to distract him Phil brought out his presents.

It was actually really fun to have Rhett to ourselves and not worry about Max and Kate getting all in his business. He was able to enjoy the process of opening presents and look at all his toys.

Everyone knows the best part is the paper anyway!

While my mom was here she really wanted to find a bear for Rhett. Max and Kate are extremely attached to theirs and she wanted Rhett to have a lovey too. We searched high and low, hit most of the big box stores and always came up empty handed. Then the day before his birthday we were getting milk at the grocery store and she happened to glance near the floral/gift shop area at Bashas'. There was Rhett's bear. It was perfect! A soft, fuzzy brown bear. Different from Max and Kate's and entirely Rhett's. She snatched it up in a jiffy and was so excited to give it to him.

Rhett's reaction was priceless. So cute, he took right to it. Needless to say, my mom was thrilled.

After presents and a little play time Rhett went right back to bed. It was a great ending to an already full and rewarding day. Love our little Rhett!
