Baby Update

We are back up and running thanks to a new hard drive and an extremely handy and computer savvy husband.

First, I had my level II ultrasound last almost 2 weeks ago and everything checked out fine according to the sonographer, baby girl has enough fluid and both babes are growing in concordance with one another. I get to return to see them again on the big screen next week. Baby A, our girl, was most cooperative, (or at least most accessible since it is getting quite crowded!) and the following pics are of her. We did get a 3D image of our boy but just of his little manhood, which every sonographer feels inclined to give me at each visit. Yes, we know! He is still a boy, thank you very much. Poor kid.

Second, belly pics! These are self-explanatory. At my 28 week appointment I was up 15 pounds and am a bit leery of the weigh-in next week. My home scale tells me we are growing, well I am! I can't blame any big weight gain on the babies since they should be about 3 pounds each now. Um, maybe my cankles weigh a lot, yeah, that's it! Massive swelling of the feet and ankles just reared its ugly head this past few days. It is lovely and oh so very attractive.

And finally, the bumpers! And can I just say it is the cutest bumper around?! I love it and could not have done it without the help of some wonderful friends who guided me through the process. The glider reupholstery is half-way done and is on my to-do list for this coming week.

I am officially done working! Bittersweet and I will surely miss my co-workers and paycheck. 4 continous years of dental hygiene and prior to that 4 years of dental office work. My entire marriage I have been working and now this quiet time is a bit new and uncharted territory for me. But really it is just the calm before the storm! 6 weeks baby!

Well, shoot...

My main computer is on the fritz and my live-in techie has yet to figure it out. This means I cannot access the software I need to process my super big images from my camera and my laptop is not outfitted to handle such lovely images, so no belly pics. We took them yesterday though!

I am 28 weeks, 7 months and am measuring only 1 week bigger. The babes are just about 2.25 pounds and growing in concordance with one another. I have another ultrasound on Wednesday to check on the fluid around Baby A (our little girl). Thursday at my appointment the doctor said it isn't "ideal" but isn't too bad. What does that mean?

So I am on couch potato rest, need to drink 1 gallon of water a day and soak in the tub or pool for 30 minutes each day to help with her fluid levels. I don't know how much more water I can take! Or if it is helping since it seems to exit as fast as I can drink it.

Only 2 more weeks of work left and then I am left to be a couch potato at home and conquer boredom as best as I can. I will take advantage and review sleeping schedules and breast feeding twins. Oh two at once! I am starting to get worried...

Got it...

Yes, I got my ice cream and then some! The mint oreos are soooo good. It is not a good idea to go to the store craving junk food, you always come out with way more than you really need.

Update tomorrow with a belly pic.

Want or Need?

It's 9:30 in the morning and I am craving mint oreo ice cream...bad.

Currently asking myself:
  • is it rational?
  • Do I care?
  • Do I want to get dressed and run to the store?
  • What will people think when they see a pregnant women in the ice cream aisle at 9:30am?
  • Do I care?
  • How bad do I want it?
  • What will Phil think/say?
  • Do I care?
  • Is DQ drive-thru open this early?

I get weighed tomorrow...

Decisions

Yesterday was to be Phil's first day of medical school. Such a mind bending thought since we had carefully tucked med school away until next year once we made the decision to defer. We do not regret the decision though. Being able to have the freedom to focus just on our soon to be children and enjoy the newness of being a family of FOUR (yikes!). To have Phil not feel the burden of insane academia and coming home to an equally insane wife/new mother to newborn twins who may or may not (most likely not) have it all together. The stress that would have been placed on our marriage; new babies, medical school, single mom status, lack of income, insurance, new way of life, etc.

Phil came home from work yesterday a bit sad and with a twinge of regret that he wasn't sitting in a classroom instead of his cubicle. He has a good job but isn't loving it and when change is in your grasp it is easy to wonder. But it is for the better. He will survive. If anything it gives him more drive and desire to get started come next August.

Yes, we are happy to have this time and I know we will appreciate it more fully when the babies actually make their arrival in about 10 weeks. In the meantime, we are still preparing. The nursery has but a few projects left and I only have 4 weeks of work before I finish cooking the babes at home. What will I do for 6ish weeks? Visitors and play dates are welcome!
