So, a while back I requested one less day from one of my doctor's. He finally delivered. He went above and beyond my request. He went so far, he actually canned me. Nice, huh?
At the end of the day he called me into his office, I internally said "crap". He talked, I listened. I listened some more. And then told him just to come out and say it. He did. I was informed today was my last day. I am sad and hurt but will recover in a timely fashion. He had no real reason for my termination other than it has been hard for him to find someone to work just one day and that I haven't shown enough enthusiasm for hygiene lately. Yeah, it gets boring scraping plaque day in and day out. Everyone ebbs and flows. It's called life.
So, on to the next adventure. What else is life going to throw at me?

Oh my gosh! When it rains, it pours, huh?! I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. I can't believe he didn't even give you any notice! I hope you can get in with another dentist pronto!

Nice...what a smooth guy. I think I know which dentist it is and I think he has done that to a girl in the past because she had a baby. You are better without him!!!!
holy cow! I'm surprised he was having a hard time finding someone who wanted only one day a week! It seems like there would be some mostly stay at home mom who would want only one day, keep up her skill and bring in some extra cash! Life goes on and you'll go where you are suppose to go next. In the mean time you should relax and have some fun!
What the crap! I won't be going to him! HA! Anyways I hope that you can find something fast and that you love it and think that it is way better then your other one. Good Luck!
Sorry to hear that Heather! I hope you find something soon. Stupid doctor. I agree with the above statements. He sounds like a CHUMP anyway, and you are better off to be out of that situation! Not that those words are helping, but I know you will bounce back, you are amazing!
Oh Heather! No bueno! So sorry to hear about the disappointment and the let down. But, maybe it's what you need to relax and clear your head a bit. Plus, the next time you apply to a place, you can apply as someone who is only looking for four days a week, instead of five. There are lots of part time places out there...my sister finds them all the time. In fact, if you need a good office to look in to, she works at one. If interested, let me know! Good luck and chin up!
P.S. I don't know about you, but stuff like this really fuels my passion for running. Maybe this is the ticket!

What a jerk! And to think I sent Tait out there! I'll have to tell him to reconsider dentists. I agree that it seems unlikely that he couldn't find another byg. for one day/wk. Well, I guess now you have some xtra time to train for that 5k huh?

You think you've got a good thing and can work out a little give and take and then, wham! ... He was obviously waiting for someone to do something so he could get rid of them. Apparently wanting to work one less day exhibited your lack of enthusiasm. Sorry, that just irritated me and I wanted to vent with you. I'm really sorry, though.
Well, that really stinks! I hope that you find something soon, and that it is way better for you! Take some time to relax and do things you enjoy.

I can't believe that we were just talking on Sunday about how you feel loyal to the dentists that you work for! That's got to be so frustrating. I'm sorry.

Sorry Heather, what a rat of a dentist. I am confident that you are good at what you do, and I hope this transition goes as smoothly as possible.

That stinks. I would have cried, right then and there. You are stronger than me. I'll pay you to come clean my husbands teeth :) He hates dentists, so he hasn't had a good cleaning in awhile. If only dental hygienists could do house calls. Also, thanks again for letting me be a part of your bunko on Friday. You put on a great night.

You are all fabulous! Thanks for your support. BTW Kathryn, I did cry, just a bit. I kept it in as best I could and then when he left and I was still typing my chart notes they came dribbling out. I am not that strong and just a bit leaky.
I'm sorry to hear that Heather. It's never easy to lose a job, especially when it comes with a lame excuse like that. It sounds like he was trying to place the blame/guilt somewhere other than himself.
I have at least 2 dentists in my ward. I'll look into it if you want. I know one will be branching off and starting his own thing soon...near San Tan Village (Williams Field/Greenfield). I also understand if you want a little break.
I am so sorry, that really stinks. I knowyou will find something soon. Just temp for awhile, until something you really like comes along. I didn't know you were in a bunco group with Kim.
