Whenever I have school-age patients I always ask about their life, which invariable is consumed by school, homework and the like. As I was cleaning up after one teenage girl this week I thought about how life was so "hard" when you were that age. So many things to worry about...Yeah right!
Things were simple back then with my blessed hindsight and adult perspective. Now there are bills, earning an income to pay those bills, responsibility to so many people and so many things, marriage, work, church, family to worry about. The list goes on.
We are still on the path towards medical school and Phil has backed away from the Obama-induced ledge that threatened to change our life plans. So far we have only heard from Nevada and that is where we will be going if Arizona doesn't want us. Then we can return to the simple student life, right? Hah! Just throw in the absence of income, hopefully children, and a whole lotta responsibility. But love and hope. And plenty of it.

Such a good post! I remember being in high school too and thinking life was so hard and that I couldn't wait to be older and have less stress!! Yeah right! And today I was looking through some older pictures and saw our Winter Formal pictures, I should send it to you! (There's one with no guys, so it's not awkward) Anyways, it's funny how things have changed!!
This is just the conversation I was having with my 17 year. Life is so easy for adults, blah, blah, blah. I'm hoping she at least enjoys part of being a teenager before she jumps on the adult wagon...because you never get off.
I hear ya, sister! Funny, that's how I look at our 5 years of married life before baby - so simple & carefree, despite both of us working full time & schooling full time. So to the extent you can, enjoy it!
I often reminisce on the simple days of being a youth... If only our YW could soak up these moments with out wanting to grow up so fast. I'm glad that you're moving forward with your plans for school, no president or politician should change your/Phil's dreams:)
I have often thought the same thing about the life of a teenager...in the middle of it everything is so dramatic, but yeah, looking back it's such a selfish time!
Also, speaking of "the absence of income" while you're in medical school....you can't forget you'll also have the "absence of husband and father"!!! But you make it through! With, like you said, love and hope. :)
I too am anxiously looking forward to our delicious date. We'll be at Shaunna's house, do you remember how to get there??
I'm glad to hear that you guys are feeling better about Med School. Seriously, its great to get away and be on your own. Its a fun adventure in life that you will grow a lot from.
It is wierd that we're had to take a huge step back though financially. You guys may have it worse because you are now used to 2 incomes, where we have only ever had mine. It will be great, regardless.
